Just a few years ago I was caught up in a cycle of self-doubt, shame, and failure. I was early on in adulthood and already I felt completely worn out; convinced my life would end in ruins. Eventually I was able to seek counseling, and this became a major factor in helping me find a new sense of hope and freedom. I became a counselor out of a desire to share this gift with others. I seek to create a safe space where my clients can find new hope in their journey. When you walk into my office, I want you to know that you are welcome here. You belong. You matter!

I believe each client is unique and deserves individual attention. Your specific needs will help direct each step of the therapy process. I believe in the importance of building a safe, caring and effective therapeutic rapport with my clients. I'm open to working with a variety of age-groups and circumstances if I can help clients on a path toward improved health and success. I have a lifelong passion for helping others and over twenty years of experience in the mental health field, as a therapist, clinical trainer, and supervisor of therapists. These experiences have assisted me in understanding and walking with others towards their goals. I believe healthy therapeutic relationships provide the foundation, safety, and strength to address life challenges. My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master’s degree in Community Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado since 2004. I have professional experience in many venues and have served all ages and backgrounds. I specialize in treating children, youth and their families in the areas of depression, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. In addition to children and youth, I am very comfortable working with adults of all ages and have treated a wide range of issues, symptoms, and diagnoses.
I have been in the counseling field for over 20 years. I work with children (18 months old and up), adolescents, women and families. I look at each of my clients as "unique" individuals and with that I then create a treatment plan around your own "unique" needs. I am a Eclectic therapist which means my therapeutic approach is to incorporate a variety of therapeutic principles and philosophies in order to create the ideal treatment program to meet the specific needs of my clients. I use Play therapy, Sand therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral, Person Centered, Family Systems, Psychodynamic, mindfulness, just to name a few. Children are unable to verbalize their feelings so I help ease their anxiety, trauma, anger or depression with Play therapy, Sand therapy, as well as the use of art to help them process their feelings and thoughts. Middle schoolers are my favorite age to work with, its a complex scary age for kids as well as parents. I find that they have a ton of thoughts and feelings and they still haven't learned what to do with all these strange new feelings. I help guide them to learn hoe to verbalize theses feelings and find healthy coping skills to deal with them. Women have their own unique issues and problems, I help them find the core of their depression or anxiety, so they can deal with past traumas and learn how to move on and not let it weigh them down. Families are such an important part of everyone lives, but communication can be lacking. I help families learn how to stop and listen to each other. We sit down and look at the family as a system, each family member being an important part of that system. With all my clients, I believe the therapeutic relationship is important for healing and change to happen. I provide a safe, non-nonjudgmental space for all my clients. I also believe everyone has the strength with in them to heal, they just need a person to guide them through this process. I treat: Depression, trauma, anxiety, self-harming behaviors, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, behavioral issues, toddler outbursts, life changes, grief.

Yogi Berra has wisely said, "If you don't know where you're going, you may never get there." Absurd as this statement may sound, the truth of it is plain to see. My work with clients is about helping people connect with what matters and then developing the skills to navigate their life consistently in the direction of their personal values. Bringing together contemporary cognitive and behavioral science with perennial wisdom of the great spiritual traditions, I work on behalf of my clients to develop authentic healing relationships that convey compassion, acceptance and also knowledge and skills to take effective action in the world. My areas of expertise are supporting families and kids in the transition between adolescence and young adulthood; working with men who are struggling to connect with their sense of vitality, direction and personal power; and helping people who struggle with anxiety and mood disorders.
